The Fall of Icarus: the painting behind the ICARUS TEE

In 1819 Merry-Joseph Blondel painted The Fall of Icarus for a ceiling in the Louvre. Look up from the Salle des Bijoux and you see a boy falling out of the sky, his wings coming apart, the chariot of the sun rolling on above him.
The story is older than the painting. Daedalus, the inventor, built wings of feathers and wax so he and his son could escape the island of Crete. He warned Icarus twice: do not fly too low, the sea will soak the feathers; do not fly too high, the sun will melt the wax. Icarus flew high anyway. That is the whole myth, and it is also the whole brand.
MARTYRZ is about people who risk everything for what they love. Every chapter tells one of those stories. Chapter one had to be Icarus: the first person to choose the sun over safety and pay for it.
The ICARUS TEE prints Blondel's painting seam to seam across the front of a black heavyweight boxy tee, 280 gsm cotton, with 16 crystals set one by one over the title. The painting is in the public domain, so what you wear is the real work, not a redraw.
